Slowing Down, Enjoying Life

As everything moves so fast around us in a hectic world sometimes it seems that life passes us by before we really have time to enjoy it.

A slower paced life means what? It means taking more time to cherish the simple pleasures in life. It means taking time to enjoy mornings instead of rushing off to start the day in a frenzy. Instead of always being connected to technology it means taking time to enjoy whatever you’re doing, to appreciate nature, to consciously focus on whoever you’re talking to or spending time with. Instead of multitasking, switching between a multitude of tasks and focusing on none of them, it means single-tasking and focusing on one task at a time.

Bringing yourself back to the preset moment, actually being mindful of whatever you’re doing at that moment is also an integral part of slowing down. It relies on you to focus on what’s going on right now, on your actions, your environment and others around you, bringing yourself back to the present moment. Going slowly means that you’re taking time to savor life and appreciate every interaction.

Instead of hurrying, rushing and trying to fit too much into every day, slow down to a more relaxed pace. Life is better when you relax and begin get the most out of every moment.

Although not always easy, making a conscious choice to slow down will lead to a greater appreciation for life and a greater level of happiness. As Ghandi said, “There is more to life than increasing its speed.”
